Clark’s Story
About Us
Founded in 1974 by the late Warren Clark in Tioga, Texas—the hometown of the legendary singing cowboy Gene Autry—Clark’s Outpost has been a proud destination for authentic, slow-smoked Texas BBQ for nearly five decades. Warren’s vision was simple but bold: to craft true country BBQ using a carefully perfected slow-smoking process. This technique remains the heart and soul of Clark’s Outpost today.
In January 2016, a fire damaged much of our original restaurant. We reopened in 2017 with a cozier, more inviting smokehouse that’s perfect for a casual dinner or a quick, delicious lunch. Over time, we’ve expanded our menu to include homestyle favorites, made-from-scratch breakfast options, fresh-baked pastries, and expertly crafted coffee drinks, served throughout the day to give you even more reasons to visit.
Our passion has always been—and continues to be—to deliver the finest BBQ experience consistently. Thanks to our loyal customers and recognition from food experts including America’s Best Restaurant, Zagat, Travel + Leisure, and Texas Highways Magazine, we’ve built a tradition of excellence we’re proud to uphold.
Today, Clark’s Outpost operates with the same enthusiasm and commitment Warren instilled from the start, combining outstanding food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.
We invite you to come visit us, whether for our legendary BBQ, a hearty breakfast, or a great cup of coffee, and discover why Clark’s Outpost is a true Texas treasure.
